Hi there! My name is Tatiana (Tati) Rusakova. I’m a Ukrainian artist, botanical illustrator, and watercolorist based in Amsterdam. I come from a classical academic art education and studied art in all its forms and varieties from fine art to interior design, from sculpting to graphic design, from applied art to clothing design. Behind each of my work is 25 years of experience in the art industry, studding, hard work and dedication.
Call me old-fashioned, but nothing beats the feeling of real paint on real paper (or canvas). I love the mess, the texture, the unpredictability—art with an actual soul. If I had to choose one medium forever (a dramatic thought, I know) I’d pick watercolor. It keeps me challenged in all the best ways, and I use it in all of my work—from patterns and children’s book illustrations to botanical art and surface design.
If you think we share the same values, send me an email—I’m sure we can create something beautiful together. I’m available for freelance commissions and full-time collaborations.
Teaching & Workshops
Another big part of who I am is an art teacher. I’ve studied both classical and alternative pedagogical methods, and after more than two decades of practice, I’ve developed my own approach, which includes of course my favorite statement“colors are less important than values” (ask my students, they’ve heard this more times than they can count).
I teach workshops, lead team-building sessions, give private lessons, and run my own courses. Sharing what I know and watching people fall in love with art never gets old. So if you’d like to become my student—send me an email. I’ll gladly welcome you into the wonderfully beautiful (and occasionally messy) world of art.
